Miriam takes inspiration from flowing water and detailed aspects of leaves, feathers, and fractals to create sculptural silver centrepieces.  She uses the techniques of hand engraving, carving, chasing and repoussé in her work. Her smaller silver vessels and spoons also exhibit well her skill of engraving and chasing, allowing every piece to carry the same tactility and intrigue as her larger signature pieces.

Miriam graduated from University College for the Creative Arts at Farnham in 2007. She then attended the Bishopsland Postgraduate course for Jewellers and Silversmiths, finishing in 2008. Miriam attributes much of her unique style and technique to the rigorous standards and training she experienced at Bishopsland. Miriam now enjoys working from her rural Suffolk workshop.

Since her first trip to Malcolm Appleby’s workshop in 2008, hand engraving has become an integral part of her creative design process. She uses hand engraved detail alongside chasing to define her style which is unique. Miriam was fortunate to win the Malcolm Appleby Creative Engraving Award both in 2010 and 2011.
