After completing an HND in jewellery studies in Cape Town, Ruth moved to the UK to work at the bench as a Goldsmith in the year 2000.

She continued her studies part-time, specialising in hand engraving at the Sir John Cass School of Art, and after graduating in 2003 completed a traditional apprenticeship with a renowned engraving firm in London’s Hatton Garden. Whilst there, she had the opportunity to work on a huge variety of jewellery and silverware, including the Ruder Cup, Wimbledon tennis trophies, and the Americas Cup and Davis Cup trophies.

Through a desire to express herself more creatively and use her jewellery skills, Ruth decided to set up her own workshop in 2007, working to commission and developing a range of unique hand engraved jewellery.
