HAND ENGRAVING WORKSHOPS AND DEMONSTRATIONS:

Cut in Clerkenwell is an exciting event, that first took place in 2013, created to raise the profile of the art of hand engraving. Over the course of a week, there will be demonstrations, taster sessions, an exhibition and a chance to meet practising hand engravers. The event is aimed at the public, craftspeople and aspiring hand engravers. Entrance to the event is free with a small charge for the workshops.

The Hand Engraving Workshops will take place each morning, Tuesday to Friday between 10am and 1pm, taught by very experienced practioners and will be on a first come, first served basis by pre-booking only. Workshops are £30 per session. Please visit our courses page to book.

Hand engraving demonstrations will take place throughout the week which can be viewed at the same time as the exhibition on a drop in basis.

TRADE EVENT: TRAINING THE TRAINERS:

Identifying the Future Training Needs of Hand Engravers, meeting at Craft Central, Tuesday 3rd March, 3.30-5.30pm

The art of hand engraving is at a pivotal point in its history. Practitioners of this skill are busier than ever. However with over 40% reaching retirement age, there is a need to find practical ways to pass on these skills, maintain diversity and enable the next generation of hand engravers to provide a much sought after technique. This second event follows a very successful turnout in Birmingham earlier this year. For this event, we need engravers and other professional from the industry based in and around London and the South East to put forward their views. This event will help the association plan the future training needs of our industry and give practitioners and industry professionals a chance to get together and exchange ideas. Please register your interest by contacting event organiser, Karin Paynter.

Refreshments will be available and participants will have entry to the VIP the private view at 6pm

THIS EVENT IS GENEROUSLY SUPPORTED BY THE GOLDSMITHS COMPANY AND CRAFT CENTRAL
