The Hand Engravers Association warmly invites craftspeople, retail jewellers, students and tutors to a day of demonstrations and discussion about everything to do with the art of hand engraving.
One of the aims of the day will be to bring together engravers and retailers, and indeed anyone who might have call to use the services of a hand engraver, in order to showcase some of the best engraving and highlight the value it can add to jewellery and silverware.
It is becoming increasingly difficult to source skilled engravers and it is hoped this might provide an opportunity to put retailers and engravers in touch with each other for the benefit of all, and to better understand each other’s needs.
We are in the situation currently where engraving is not taught as it has been in the past, either in the art schools or as apprenticeships. A second aim of the day, therefore, is for students and teachers to meet and talk to engravers who will be able to demonstrate the versatility of engraving and hopefully spark some enthusiasm to pursue it further. Visitors will also have the opportunity to try engraving for themselves.
The Hand Engravers Association would like to invite all those interested in learning about hand engraving to join them in Liverpool for what, it is hoped, will be a useful and enjoyable day and we look forward to meeting you.
